Andy and I have been working to convert the DotA Autoscript website over to word-press for a couple of weeks now and so far I’m pleased with all the new features and tools at our disposal. Notably, our news articles now have perma-links and are managed nicely by the word-press engine.

The biggest challenge is to make the MyBB forum feel like it is part of the same website and not a separate site. The difficulty stems from the the two technologies using completely different html templates, so the css design and layout files are not compatible. Another problem comes from the dynamic header that wordpress gives you. Copying the word-press header links into the MyBB header template will work, but it must be maintained by hand anytime the wordpress header links change! Fortunately there isn’t any reason to change them often.
